I had to write a narrative story and tell about something I did with an unforgettable person and use dialogue. This is my story about my Grandpa Lance.
"Riding on the Ranch with Grandpa"Last summer, in Utah, I went with my Grandpa to go horseback riding on his cattle ranch. We went to the big red building. Grandpa and I got horse blankets and saddles. We packed them up and drove off to get tractor gas, then to the field.
When we got to the corrals we got two horses out of about twenty there. I got white Ahab and Grandpa got black Midge, then we saddled and tied them up. A guy stopped by to talk to Grandpa. I wished Grandpa would quit talking to that guy on the road so we could ride horses. I was bored waiting for him in the corral. Bud kept biting my horse, Ahab, but he wouldn't stop. Ahab and Midge started to buck. I thought that Ahab might kick me so I hid behind the hay manger. I was too scared to think!
Grandpa said, "Ryan get out of there!"
I ran to the other side of the gate from the horses. The bucking horses banged the gate and it swung open and hit me on the forehead, but it didn't hurt.
Grandpa said, "Ryan are you okay?" He was running to help me and yelled at the horses to stop them from getting out.
"Ryan, keep them in there!"
I waved my hat at the horses and kept the whole herd in. After that Grandpa opened the gate and we got on the horses and went in the field. We rode through the canal but Grandpa's horse Midge refused to go in the water. The dog started barking at Midge.
Grandpa said, "#@*%!" He rode to a tree and broke off a stick. He whacked Midge's butt, then she crossed the canal.
Grandpa said, "You coming, Ry?"
"Yep, I'm coming."
I followed Grandpa through the mountains and back to the corral. I had a wonderful time riding horses. We unsaddled the horses and got in the pickup and drove home.
Even though Grandpa swears I still love him. He takes me on great adventures. I think my Grandpa is an unforgettable person.
